confined inside a museum video compilation project - 2020, belgium

in 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I arrived at the Verbeke Foundation for a two-month internship that unexpectedly stretched into three. The world outside was dissolving into uncertainty, but within the museum’s vast 12 hectares of landscapes and 20,000m² of covered space, we existed in an alternate reality. i lived inside the museum with five others, strangers at first, then companions in an unrepeatable moment in time. We ate, created, explored, and adapted, surrounded by installations and sculptures that became our silent witnesses. art was not just something we observed; it became the architecture of our confinement.

during those months, I filmed over 50 videos, capturing fragments of this peculiar existence—artworks bathed in shifting light, moments of stillness, the echoes of our movements. the outside world felt distant, unreal. instead, we became immersed in a self-contained ecosystem of experimentation and contemplation, where time folded in on itself.

this video compilation is a record of that suspended reality—of daily life within a living, breathing museum, where confinement became an experience of artistic immersion.
